Homemade Granola!

This is especially for my dear friends who have worked with me in finding a granola that will actually stay together and can be cut into actual bars and not just crumble treats. Here it is...I did not follow the recipe at all and they turned out great, so I am going to give it to you my way, which is much easier than the recipe I used!

2 cups of oatmeal

1/2 cup of sunflower seeds(shelled)

1 cup of sliced almonds

1/2 cup of wheat germ

1/2 cup of honey

1/4 cup brown sugar

1 ounce of butter(what the heck???? I just used a "chunk") :)

2 teaspoons vanilla

"some" raisins, craisins, etc. Use whatever dried fruit you have or that your kiddos like.

*I added organic flax seeds(not milled)this gave a nice "birdseed" like crunch. Yummy!
I also added about a 1/4 cup of mini chocolate chips.

I mixed this all together and then pressed it into a greased 9x9 glass baking dish until it was golden brown around the edges. About 25 minutes.

Play around with this and let me know what changes you made. :)

I'm looking forward to making these for picnics at the park this summer!
